Deliverability & Infrastructure

MailBullet is committed to maintaining the highest standards of email deliverability, sender reputation, and compliance with Amazon SES guidelines. Below is a full breakdown of our email practices to ensure safe, responsible, and permission-based email marketing for all users on our platform.

1. Use Case Description

MailBullet is a full-featured, no-bloat email marketing platform designed for small to medium-sized businesses and independent brands. We provide a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to bloated ESPs by leveraging Amazon SES for transactional and marketing email delivery.

Our users include:

  • Ecommerce store owners
  • Online educators
  • Local service providers
  • Digital product sellers
  • Consultants and coaches

The platform supports:

  • Transactional emails (purchase confirmations, receipts, password resets)
  • Warm marketing outreach (newsletters, promotions, product updates)
  • Automated sequences (abandoned cart flows, welcome emails, follow-ups)

2. Opt-In Process

We require all users to send only to contacts they’ve acquired through clear, direct, and traceable opt-in methods. This includes:

  • Website or app-based forms with checkbox consent
  • Checkout opt-ins (with notice of future email communication)
  • Lead magnet/funnel opt-ins with clear value exchange
  • Manual CRM exports of previously opted-in contacts

Users may not send cold email or upload purchased, rented, or scraped lists. Every account is reviewed before being granted full sending capabilities.

3. Email Sending Frequency

MailBullet recommends that senders contact their list at least once a month to maintain engagement and reputation. Common frequencies include:

  • Transactional emails: sent immediately after trigger events
  • Welcome/intro sequences: 1–3 emails in the first week
  • Newsletters: weekly or bi-weekly
  • Promotional campaigns: 1–2 emails per campaign cycle

We actively discourage list fatigue and encourage users to set clear expectations with their audience at the point of opt-in.

4. Email Content & Examples

MailBullet allows both transactional and marketing email content as long as it is relevant, permission-based, and valuable to the recipient.

Examples of permitted email types:

  • Order confirmations and shipping updates
  • Welcome emails and onboarding steps
  • Cart abandonment reminders
  • Discount and loyalty program notifications
  • Newsletter updates with educational or promotional content

Marketing emails are clearly labeled and sent only to opted-in recipients. Users are provided with drag-and-drop tools and plain-text options. We require all emails to include a clear unsubscribe link.

5. List Management, Hygiene, and Complaint Handling

List hygiene is critical to our sending reputation and compliance with Amazon SES policies. MailBullet enforces the following:

  • Bounce Handling: All hard bounces are automatically removed from future sends.
  • Complaint Handling: Complaints via SES or feedback loops are immediately flagged. The address is unsubscribed from all future campaigns.
  • Unsubscribes: Every email includes a visible, one-click unsubscribe link. We also encourage placing opt-out links near the top of the email.

Users are required to verify their lists through integrated or external list validation tools. We provide email verification services at cost to support our users in maintaining list quality.

6. Domain Verification and Sending Identity

Clarification on Domain Roles:

MailBullet uses its own Amazon SES infrastructure and IPs to deliver email on behalf of its users. However, the From Email and reply-to address are typically configured using the sender’s domain (e.g., info@clientsite.com). In this setup:

  • The email is technically sent from a MailBullet-controlled SES domain
  • The visible sender and SPF/DKIM alignment are configured to authenticate the customer’s sending domain
  • DMARC records are supported through domain-level DNS configuration

We handle domain verification and DKIM setup for each customer as part of onboarding. All users must verify their sending identity or authorize MailBullet to send on their behalf using signed headers.
